Tim Monaghan the founder of Monaghan Lawyers, brings over two decades of experience specialising in criminal defence law and liquor licensing/hospitality law in Western Australia.

  • Director

    Tim Monaghan commenced practice as a specialist criminal defense lawyer in 1989. Since then, he has gained considerable experience in the Western Australian criminal justice system, representing hundreds of clients facing criminal charges of all types and all levels of seriousness, appearing in the Magistrates Court, District Court, Supreme Court and the High Court of Australia. He practices both as a barrister and solicitor, appearing in Court as defence counsel and as required, briefing and assisting senior barristers to assist.

    He is committee member of the Western Australian Criminal Law Association and has lectured in trial advocacy for the WA Law Society.

  • Barrister and Solicitor

    Anthony specialises in all aspects of criminal defence law.

    He graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2022 and was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 2023. Prior to his admission he worked as a law clerk for Simon Watters and as an articled clerk for Tom Percy KC, assisting them in complex criminal pleas, trials and appeals covering a broad range of matters including drug trafficking, sexual offences, murder, and manslaughter. He commenced employment with Monaghan Lawyers in 2024. In addition to legal practice he serves on the committee of the Criminal Lawyers' Association of Western Australia.

    Anthony has quickly developed a reputation as a passionate and dedicated advocate, combining extensive legal knowledge with a down to earth, practical approach to legal problems to consistently achieve exceptional outcomes for his clients.
